"Blind, deaf, and dumb."
"This absurd theater play is terrifyingly realistic."
"Blind, deaf, and dumb: a dystopian or apocalyptic tragicomedy?"
"The humor of tragedy and the absurdity of the contemporary world."
Written in 1992, "Blind, Deaf, and Dumb" is a humorous play that portrays the environmental chaos caused by the immediacy of a consumerist society, in which people don't want to see what happens beyond their own navel; no one wants to hear the warnings of what is coming, because there is no interest in listening to others; and, finally, no one dares to take the reins of the problem to try to correct the mistakes that have been made over time.
Although it is a denunciation of the savage destruction of the environment, "Blind, Deaf, and Dumb" does not seek to blame anyone in particular. Everyone is responsible in one way or another in this tragicomedy in which Ricardo, a man who is convinced he knows the truth, is the sole owner of the last trees on the planet. In the midst of his artificial paradise, he is forced to listen to those who desperately seek him to share his trees with others, but not to transform the planet, turned into a total desert, into a new green world, but to destroy them because they cannot live without trees to destroy.
"Blind, Deaf, and Dumb" is a comic, tense, and absurd parade of unique characters who converse and argue with absurd logics in which no one understands each other, because each one ardently defends their own ideas, while the desert takes over the everyday landscape.
Blind, Deaf, and Dumb is a tragicomedy inspired by the theater of the absurd.
